Does it use AI?

No. The grade is written in as the shutter fires and nothing is generated, sharpened or reshaped. The one thing STUUDIO adds is optical skin smoothing, and it is off until you turn it on.

What do I need to shoot on my own?

The phone and something to lean it on. Set a duration and how often to shoot, walk into frame, and it keeps shooting until the time is up.

Does it shoot stills and video at once?

Yes. In timer mode it records the whole take as video and pulls stills at your interval, so one session gives you both.

Will it really pick the best shots?

If you want it to. It flags blinks and soft frames and can hand you a shortlist. Every call it makes is yours to override.

Do the Mac and iPad apps cost extra?

No. They are part of the same subscription and sign in with the same account.
